@Sakura I wanted to get your take on this one. It seems everybody I know is traveling to Japan lately. While once considered an exotic vacation for those living in Canada or the US, it seems to have quickly become one of the most popular travel destinations. I know two couples who visited last year. My colleague and his wife also traveled there this past summer. I have another friend who took a snowboard trip there. Heck even my barber just returned from Japan.
It seems there are more and cheaper flight options than ever before. Has there been increased marketing coming out of Japan to build up the tourism industry or any other factors that created this surge?
Is it true the locals are getting fed up with all the tourism over the past couple years? I'm not sure if you're near any touristy areas, but have you personally noticed any significant changes with the number of foreign travelers coming through?
I'm starting to feel like I'm missing out and I should be traveling to Japan as well! What would you recommend for a first time visitor? Unless you're truly fed up with all the travelers which would be understandable
