Pop quiz:

First engine restart: EMS (Engine Management System) warning came on, no CEL, start-stop failure, parking sensor was OK, and selecting Corsa turned off the EMS.

Second engine restart: EMS stayed on, CEL came on, start-stop failure, parking sensor was OK, and none of the driving modes turned off the EMS.

Third engine restart was the same.

What do you think the problem was, without using an OBD2 reader?

I did something, then EMS went away, and after 3-4 engine restart, the CEL went away and everything went back to normal. No exorcism involved.

Do you mean the EPC light went on? I don't see EMS in the owners manual.

What you own a huge Snap On tool chest and you don't have an OBDII scanner!

I would start by checking if the battery has a loose ground or positive. You should have room through the frunk panel.

Otherwise an EPC or in your case EMS is more likely to point towards a sensor for the engine that may start to be defective or bad connection at it.

LOL I guess I should have owned one but I have never seen things go kaput right after spending big money on service.

So it was either the sensor and/or a loose connection. What do you think? :)

You found the issue?

I don't think you are familiar with all those sensor placement so I think it was a loose connection at the battery. They probably disconnected the battery when they replaced your camera or for the service and didn't tighten it back properly.

Yes, found the issue. The dealer actually told me it was the battery too since I just got a new digital back camera installed. But that was not the problem especially I just got it replaced like two years ago. Note that the car has been ran through dealer system and the chance of that problem happening is quite low. It was something near the foot.... :) Well, this is the last hint I'll tell you in the next post :)

Ah I remember you have a pedal controller, a loose connector?

BINGO! It was a bad pedalbox. Took it off and problem was fixed. Took like a day for the CEL to go away though.

Start-stop failed too when EMS or EPC kicked in.

Are you going to reconnect it to see if it was just a bad contact?

Too late for that.

I drove some to the nearest volcano and tossed it into the magma. No Golum on sight so I was safe.

I ordered new one from Germany and it should get here in a few days :)

The new unit arrived from Germany in just three days. Pretty impressive. I had emailed them asking for a quick shipment since the old one broke, and it feels like they went the extra mile to get it programmed and sent out lightning fast.

I have unpacked and installed it. I chose the wired version since I do not really trust Bluetooth.

I'm interested to know how the acceleration is compared without it.

I should get one too because on the Corvette it makes a world of difference, without it on that car it is atrociously slow.

I drive 99% of the time in corsa. Strada only during cold start for first 5 minutes. As for acceleration, no difference at all in terms of how fast you reach to point B. At pedalbox red setting, the throttle is open so a light tap on acceleration pedal sends the car jolting forward. It's less smooth compares to stock. Different feeling.

Corsa stock is actually pretty nice too because that's what Lambo engineer designed it to be. Pedalbox sort of made it a bit artificial.
