I recently bought a 2022 Evo Spyder that is CPO'd until August., so I have some time to decide. However, assuming I have no problems with the car and previous records show no problems in the past, should I re-CPO the car? I believe a 1-year CPO would cost around $6k and possibly a 2-year at $11k.

You mean extended warranty? If so what makes you think they will honor a warranty? From my personal experience with an extended warranty with Corvette, both local dealers gave me BS excuse after BS excuse to not fix much. They all wanted me to pay out of pocket because they make more money that way. Even GM didn't give a F if the dealers were scammers. I learned in the process a warranty is pretty useless because I would have to sue the dealer for each issue to get a judgment for each.

So what happened then they only agreed to do easy 30 minute fixes for a $25 parts, the rest I fixed everything myself including faulty alternators, replacing and recoding HMI module (2K just for the module) and other things.

The car is currently CPO’d by Lamborghini until August 2026. I have an option to extend the warranty 1-2 years or more through their Selezionne program.

With how reliable these cars are, I would just self-insure. More often than not in the case of extended warranties, the house usually wins. And the warranty costs seem to be growing every year making them a less attractive option.

Set aside $11K as an emergency repair fund and you're almost certain to keep most or all of that money in your pocket after 2 years. I've had a couple Huracans over several years and thousands of miles and never had a single issue. Just keep your car stock and properly serviced and you're unlikely to have problems.

The only way I'd consider extending my CPO is if a potential major repair was going to put me in a dire financial situation and the stress was keeping me up at night.

The question is how consistent or disciplined you are with maintenance. If you follow the factory-recommended maintenance schedule properly, you do not need CPO. Problems usually start when one part is neglected, because everything works together as part of a larger system.

If you plan to sell within the CPO period, then get the CPO, it is a huge selling point to new buyers. If you are keeping the car, follow the advise of the others above.

Other than what I stated earlier I wouldn't pay for an extended warranty, very unlikely you will need it.

Thank you all for the advice. Coming from a McLaren I’ve been very worried about not having a warranty, but I also had 11 Porsches over the years and never needed any warranty work done with any of them. I’m hoping the Lamborghini is the same.

Thinking about it, manufacturers that participate in endurance racing (lamborghini, Porsche, GM, etc) probably have a better handle on reliability than those manufactuers that don’t (McLaren). I think producing an F1 car is impressively complex, but what makes a good consumer car is reliability and perhaps that comes from lessons learned with endurance racing.

Just my $0.02

The Huracan is based partially from the Gallardo so they had plenty of time to take notes on what issues it had. Plus it's an Audi. Everything you see and touch is Lamborghini the rest is an Audi R8.
