I've been eyeing a white Omega Seamaster with white strap
I'm a big Omega fan - but the white Seamaster? I can't get into it either - the new white Speedmaster pro however - that's on my list for my next Japan trip (best place to buy Omega still I think).

Yes, totally agree! Here is one of the best places to buy one. With weak yen, watches, whether new or used, when sold by reputable stores are guaranteed to be original.

Selling fakes results in an automatic 30 day detention for interrogation without bail. After the interrogation period, the judge will charge the seller with extra jail time and a heavy penalty.

I don't wear watches for work because I work with my hands, it hinders my movement, I would get hurt in the process and they would get damaged. I wear a watch when I go out even if it's just for groceries, for a drive even if I won't get out of the car. I like to activate the seconds when I have it on the wrist then stop when I put it back in the box.

Funny how when I'm in my work clothes not a single woman raises an eyebrow probably thinking I'm a broke bum, when I put on decent clothes and a watch sometimes I feel I get glimpsed at.

It's amusing women's psychology, they dismiss the value of a man based on what he wears.

It's not just women, it's society in general. As someone who is dismissed as repulsive, even when dressed 'nice' it is interesting watching as an observer.
I go into an autoparts store, it is assumed that I want the cheapest junk AND I don't know anything. Same thing with a hardware store.
I'm not really even allowed into super nice stores, ones with the guards outside.
How you present is huge to everyone in general. honestly, I don't even blame them, you HAVE to profile to some degree, it can be a matter of safety or simply playing the odds. The very first thing one does when profiling is assess what someone looks like.

No clients today so I dressed nice with a new pair of dress shoes and my new Tonino watch. I went to to buy some new clothes and went to a few other spots and it felt different, I think I was the most sharply dressed out of the men. I wasn't invisible today. I noticed most men wore "lounging clothes".

I learned that it's not just how you dress, but who you bring too. Apparently showing up without a date lowers your dining rank these days.

I went back to an Italian French restaurant in central Tokyo that I used to visit 5 to 10 years ago. It used to be decent. Now it feels like a school festival run entirely by part time students. Completely unprofessional.

They screened me at the door, sat me at the counter because I came alone, the staff flirted with each other in front of customers, and nobody could recommend anything from the menu they had just changed.

From the counter I could also hear the chef complaining about having to start paying social security this month. Apparently compliance finally arrived.

I was dressed perfectly fine for dinner. Black shirt, LV tie, Givenchy jacket, Rolex. Nothing unusual. But it seems the real dress code now is "bring a date so we can sell wine."

That might work if the food were exceptional. Unfortunately it was average at best.

I'm a cheap date so I wouldn't know much about dress code. :D I never dined in a luxury restaurant because I couldn't afford it and two the food on menus looked so fancy with ingredients and combinations I know I wouldn't like. My ex loved strange to me/fancy dishes but complained about the prices so we went to regular restaurants. Fine by me! At the end of the relationship she complained we never went to these places and when I obliged she complained I wouldn't like the food. Crazy!

However when I go out for a drive, my milk run takes me in front of a fancy Italian restaurant where they park supercars and luxury vehicles on the side. They must wonder if I'm ever going to stop there as I drive with the Lambo. Sometimes I do stop a few streets farther to take pictures of the cars.;)

I hope the next woman I meet isn't into fancy and or expensive restaurants because we won't get along.

You should watch the movie called "The Menu" where they round up the fancy guys and gals for the epic ending :)

I'll check it out for sure. The clip reminds me when I worked far up north, the very northernmost village, a 13 hour drive of forest without civilisation, only a single pit stop for midway for fueling. We drove through a long heard of caribous. One evening at the chow shack the female chef had prepared steaks, I do not like steak but I had no other choice. I tried to eat it but couldn't so I dumped it in the chow trash. The "chef" walked by us all and saw the steak, she took a fork from her shoulder sleeve, bent down and retrieved it displaying it above her shoulder. She spoke loudly asking who had not eaten her steak, everyone went silent. I said it was me, she was furious and proceeded to give me a vehement speech she was a renowned chef, her steak was the best and she'd make me another. Everyone was looking at her and me completely stunned. I replied no! She was completely insane, the men couldn't believe it and neither could I. I was the running joke for weeks.

After that I was fearful of going to chow in the evening because she glared angrily at me every time. I made sure to be seen last second in between 2 guys so she couldn't couldn't do anything to my plate. After 2-3 weeks or so she was gone for good and another cook replaced her, I was so relieved!

LOL that is one scary gal. Some high pride chefs take things far too personally. Many times their big mouth does not match their actual skills. Truly good chefs know that the taste of the food depends on the quality of the ingredients that day. Some great chefs, especially at private sushi restaurants, simply do not open if the catch for the day is below their standard. No cut, sauce, or grill can turn junk ingredients into great food.

Being with somebody definitely is relevant. My wife is much more presentable and better looking than me, and when my adult children are with, they also present and look much better than me. I think most places assume these nice people are taking their elderly, disabled uncle (me) out for some fresh air.

Being on the same page with this sort of stuff is definitely important. Honestly....I would HATE to be in your position. I met my wife at 17  and we had nothing, came from nothing and built everything we have together. You are someone who has done well for himself, on your own. You will always wonder....if it wasn't for XXX would she have even given me the time of day? I wish you the best of luck though, you deserve someone who is a good fit.

That movie was great. Very suspenseful. Normally I can figure out movies before the end...this one kept me guessing.

Great for you to have built a strong relationship and climbed a mountain to what you have now. It's an admirable achievement. (y)

If you are looking in buying a Tonino watch there are more counterfeit models(Spyder model)on ebay. They pass them as used, they do not have the Tonino name in the dial and no swiss made stamp either.

Factories in China often run a second backdoor production line besides the official one. It is very difficult to track or stop because it is part of the business culture there. Your contract means nothing. Making extra profit at the customer's expense is often seen as clever. For this reason, it is best never to subcontract your brand or product to these factories.

When people buy them, the real brand loses profit. Without profit, there is no incentive to develop better products. Many watch brands have disappeared for this reason. They invest time and money to design, produce, and market a watch, only to have it copied. Platforms like eBay should implement something similar to Amazon’s Brand Registry to better control counterfeits, although even that is not foolproof.

There was a time I was seriously thinking to enter the watch market as I had bunch of nice ideas, but backed out because the risk was way too high.

I just posted another video of counterfeit spark plugs. Even Amazon themselves can sell fakes.
I shop on ebay but it isn't very trustworthy. Amazon is going downhill, I just received a used item from a seller when they listed it as new, some parts came in a pharmacy bag with the name of the guy.

Yes, I’m trying to get my post count up but this is a topic I find interesting as well. For the last few years, I’ve been on a mission to get my hands on any/all of the handful of watches that are on my “get them someday” list. I am currently visiting the Rolex AD roughly once a month to show continued interest, etc, in hopes of getting a Batman and Bruce Wayne GMT eventually. I was able to get a new Sub date from them last year and I’m hopeful that they will hook me up again!

The sub looks great on your wrist! I'm thinking to grab an Air King maybe as my Christmas present this year. I've been thinking about it but always bought something else cheaper in the end :)

I never had the patience to sit on waiting lists or join preferred customer lists. I am usually the type who just buys what is available on the floor, except when I consign items. That goes for Rolex, Hermes, and most other brands.

On the other hand, the Batman and many other pieces are also available at retailers here. All genuine. No waiting needed. You can just come here to Tokyo and buy them.
