Not suggesting to buy a replica, I'm just yapping away. It doesn't bother me if someone did buy a replica. Sometime I buy top quality products and sometimes I buy off brands.

I have bootlegs and unapproved items in my music collection, highly desirable items among collectors.
I went down a rabbit hole after your last comment and discovered there's a HUGE subcommunity of replica watch lovers. There's a massive group on reddit posting pictures/comments/discussions about various replicas. Rolex seems to dominate this subsection. I must admit based on the photos alone they do look quite good considering the cost. But I would imagine the weight and feel and movement still wouldn't hold a candle to a gen Rolex.

There's a whole secret world of 'trusted dealers' to source these rep watches out of the factories in China. Interesting stuff. I should get a le mans rep just for kicks and give my thoughts on the quality vs gen Daytona haha. The ordering process does seem a bit shady though.

Fascinating there's a group chat on those. While trying to find it again, looks like there's plenty of videos people buying seperate parts and assembling their own look alike rolex.

The daytona you posted earlier I saw one on ali express for $628. Have you ever purchased on Ali? I shop there a lot that's where I got my decibel meter and many many more things. Lots of times it's the same thing on amazon but less expensive.

I've never purchased anything on Ali. I've often seen it used as a bit of a running joke on car forums when somebody buys a non-OEM part that's often deemed as lower quality. But I'd imagine there's some good finds on there for reasonable prices. Amazon certainly isn't perfect. But most people prioritize convenience and affordability over quality these days.

My watch strap for the Tonino watch
I bought 2 legit Autel scan tools 1/4 the price I would pay here.
Among other things I have an infrared thermal imager I use for work, it's top quality again a fraction of the price.
Air brush set for the Lambo model
Carbon fibre fireproof blankets I use every week 1/10 the price!
Tools and more tools, many of them are the same ones at local stores
Digital torque wrench I use on the Lambo, just as accurate as the other I have
Drill adapter to convert my Makita drill to use Milwaukee batteries, I saved the drill because the batteries were dead and it works flawlessly.
Even legit Lambo center caps
Scan tool to reset the Huracan service due
My blacked out Corvette side markers are from Ali, after 4 years still working fine.
and much much more.

Sure there are cheap items too, and some fakes like NGK spark plugs and fake Corvette shocks but these two items are flooding ebay and amazon as well.

Oh I know the hole u speak of. I bet u downloaded that excel spreadsheet haha.

I haven't chimed in as Im not much of a watch guy. Working around concrete, stone dust, mud and all the other crap my wrists and fingers are free from objects. When I go out, its not something I think about to put on my wrist. I really love some of the rolex designs but I struggle with the price of some of them.
Ive thought about getting something from the reps market as its just something that sits on my wrist. Worst case I get robbed, it's not the end of the world.
But at the same time, I dont want to be that guy who gets called out for wearing a fake rep.

If you are called out, you could say I was too poor for a Rolex, I could only afford a Lambo. :p And then if he was arrogant you ask where is your Lambo?

Anyway is anyone really going to produce a jeweler's glass to inspect if it's real?

Where would you be called out for anyway, going out at a restaurant or just walking at the mall maybe at a car show if you put your car on display? In my experience no one looks at your watch, the only 2 times I've been asked about my watches, the first time at the festival he knew the orange Huracan was mine because the watch I was wearing was orange (Liv watch). The second time I was at cars and coffee where only super cars and luxury cars were on display, the guy knew it was my car recognised my Bulova and said he owned one too.

Last but not least I think Damon from DDE mentioned he wore replicas.

I remember talking to the guy who had a Countach parked at a curb and he had set a chair on the sidewalk so he could look at people looking at his car, when I told him I aspired to own a Huracan he scoffed at me it was just an R8. Le looked at my Corvette and said his wife owned a brand new Corvette just like mine. The smugness of the guy car it was a freaking kit car and a year later I saw the wife's Corvette it was an old 1983 C4 worth not more than $6000.

If he was honest about the kit car I would of respected that because I like interesting projects and those who put effort into building one of them but to go out of your way to pretend its real then that's not cool.

You make some valid points. Although, the porsche events we attend the middle age to older guys cant help but talk about their uber limited watches and 1 of 1 spec 911s.

Some of the Bulova, Tag heur and Tissot have some nice models at a sub 3k price point.

I always thought DDE Damon wore the authentic rolex as he purchases quite frequently from Happy Jewelers. But then again, I dont beleive anything I see on the internet anymore these days.

That owner of the rep countach wasnt French was he?

If you know these guys are going to nose around your watch then keep the replica at home. I would have so much fun with these guys, I would taunt them with something like Hoovie with the Bugatti and Kraft Dinner watch!:ROFLMAO:

About the replica Countach, the guy is english and middle eastern type. I saw him again at an intersection and he looked upset I purchased the orange Huracan. Then another time I drove beside him on a bridge, that was amusing, he was trying so hard to ignore me.

@SmoothOperator about Damon, I could be way off, it's a blurr in my mind, it could of been him saying that or some other celebrity and it was a fancy brand name like Richard Mille.

Alibaba screwed me twenty years ago by creating fakes using my brand. I thought their intentions were legitimate when they asked for my sales information, pretending to be serious potential customers. Instead, they used it to buy machines and replicate my products.

If I had a button to wipe out all these factories making fake and replica items that are infringing IP, I would press it without hesitation.

So instead of playing a Strad now, I have to spend over twenty years working to afford one.

I have no control over people's actions but remember what you are feeding. A snake will bite when it is hungry.
