That's nuts. 8 years for a car recovery. Should've gone with John Wick style, guns blazing :)

I think car security devices should be worth a new topic. I haven't used any extra security devices except one from factory (immobilizer) and only use parking spots with security.

Wow, what a crazy story. Maddening they couldn't use insurance as it would have basically destroyed their business with increased rates. What's the point of having it? Such a scam.

I bought an Apple AirTag for mine. But I don't know how effective that would be if the car was shipped overseas like most thieves seem to do with exotic cars.

I don't understand why his business partner had to pay him back in cash. Something fishy going on there. Why couldn't his business partner write him checks so he could deposit them at his bank having to pay him in cash makes absolutely no sense to me.

Missing a lot of details for sure how they ran the business, or lack thereof. The partner didn't have all the money so he hustled here and there and if you write a check you have to justify everything on your tax report. Maybe in order to pay out 200K he might of had to get over 400K because half of it goes to the government in taxes.

He refunded in cash probably to avoid the headache of paperwork and taxes.

Here as an example buying a 250K Lambo you'll need to earn over 550K because the government takes 50-60% in income taxes.

Sounds totally unfair and extreme to impose heavy taxes to the upper income people, similar to Singapore and other similar countries. Japan seems to be heading in the same direction by abolishing low-income tax and increasing taxes on higher-income peoples. I understand people are paying by cash these days.

I agree although we have it pretty good here in the States. That will only improve over the next 4 years. They try to get you any way they can. I received a call this summer from the taxman asking me about my Montana plates and then he threatened me with criminal prosecution. I told him to eff off. Haven't heard back since. Wish me luck! šŸ˜‚
