Just to update the world news that nobody asked for LOL...

It is June 19 today, so I went to another rehearsal. I brought my expensive bow.

The pianist did practice this time, so that was an improvement. However, I think she still needs a lot of work because she sometimes did not follow the score. She improvised. I mean, I have never seen a pianist improvise in classical music like this. Maybe in jazz, sure, but certainly not in classical music with standard repertoire, especially when there is no cadenza section written there.

When she messed up, she just made up her own chords. She thinks she is Mozart, but Mozart did not do strange chords and never BS his way through. At that point, I was not sure whether we were still playing classical music.

What should I do about this? This is my first time dealing with this kind of pianist. I am not very optimistic about the June 27 performance, but I guess there is not much I can do now except pray and hope for the best.

When she starts to purposefully improvise you could also start a loud solo of your own. Just like Marty in Back To The Future. :p

A rebel yell ! Starting at 4 : 45

On this short notice just play your part like you should. You can't make her a better performer at the moment.

I made to today's practice and recorded a video. I played better after I shot this video, obviously after getting some coaching from my ex piano teacher. She is a pretty good pianist and is pursuing her professor study this coming Sept to Spain (Barcelona) for the next two years.

The piece is pretty difficult because it is not a common classical music. But I think I should survive in the coming recital. What do you think, or should I wear helmet in case someone throws their shoes šŸ˜‚

Oh yeah it looks like a difficult piece to play. Playing the piano sure looks easy compared to what you have to do.

For the first time in my life, and maybe for the first time in decades, two typhoons are passing through the town where my recital was scheduled to be held today.

Rivers are overflowing, mudslides are happening, bridges are being affected, and for that reason, the recital has been postponed until maybe next month or so.

The violin was prepared with new strings, my pants were pressed, my waistcoat was dry-cleaned, my hair was waxed, I had done my stretching exercises, bartered with Lucifer for good performance, everything was ready.

Then the call came. So now I have extra time to prepare.

Hopefully there's not too much damage to houses and businesses. A terrible thing to lose your possessions and a roof over your head.

Well I guess you can take the opportunity to go to your nearest city and play a tune by your car, now that would be a spectacle people would not forget!

Luckily, nothing happened in my area. It was mostly the towns along the coast and areas near large rivers that were affected. I live on top of a secluded rocky mountain where nobody wanted to live here for some reason, while the venue is at sea level, near large rivers and a bridge.

The areas around Tokyo are also taking quite a pounding, so I think some subway areas may get flooded. But they have good pump systems and are generally prepared for that sort of thing.
