What is everyone using in their Lambo and how often? I've tried Amsoil, but my go to has typically been Redline SI-1. I usually use it once per year and it seems to make a difference. What's your process?

Those products do not work. In order to clean them you need stronger chemicals and or clean them mechanically but they have to be removed from the engine. The best you can do to help prevent buildup without removing the injectors is to buy the highest octane gas that you can find. We have 94 over here and that's what I put in.

I’m using 100 over here which is the standard high octane 98-100 available in most pumps.

The last time I used Redline was with a 986 Boxsters and that was around 20 years ago. Never touched it ever since.

I think it is only useful if the gas at the pump is old or has lower rating.

Also, if you wear glasses, never pour anything in the dark. Red Line cleaner and Water Wetter look almost identical. I learned that the hard way when my old car lit up the dashboard like a Christmas tree :)

It made a huge difference on my Perf when I first got it. The car had been sitting for many months and likely had stale fuel. I was disappointed after my first couple drives, the car just felt more sluggish and not as responsive as it should. The Redline definitely improved performance/responsiveness once it cycled through the fuel system.

Now one thing I always wondered is whether it is better to buy pure ethanol-free gas at 91 octane or ethanol-infused 93/94 fuel? I know a lot of people don't have a choice as many areas only offer ethanol blends. But if pure gasoline is still an option, isn't that better? I've read many different viewpoints on this.

@Sakura does that 98-100 octane gas in Japan contain ethanol or is it pure?

And further to the above, assuming both the ethanol-free and ethanol blended gasolines are both considered "top tier" from major suppliers, is it as simple as the higher the octane rating the better? Or is ethanol-free and slightly lower octane rating (91) still best?

I know the top tier fuels all contain good additive packages with detergents and such to keep fuel systems as clean as possible. People seem to have their favs such as Shell 93 or Chevron 94. I've been using the 91 ethanol-free, but I'm considering trying out a 93/94 octane blend to see if it yields any performance difference. I realize it will be negligible, but still an interesting topic to discuss as there's such a wide array of opinions on the matter.

Mine has 1.9% of ETBT and no EtOH. This is using ether of ethanol so it doesn’t attract water like normal ethanol (EtOH) used in E85 gas or E10 gas from Costco.

In my opinion, just use whatever gas manufacturer recommends and no to worry so much on getting expensive fuel. Although lower octane gas can cause knock sensor to act up, higher octane gas can also cause problems, so staying in balance is best.

Also, from my personal experience, never fill the tank full on cars with smaller engine or tank, when using E10 or E85, especially during cold winter. It attracts water that can cause the engine to stall.

Was the car sitting for many months when you bought it? They may of been cheap skates and put regular gas while it was for sale.

When it was sluggish, was it on old gas? Did you fill it up at the same time you put the redline?

If it was old gas or regular gas, using your product might of de-gummed the varnish making it run better but it wouldn't be strong enough if you had clogged injectors.

Our fuel up here contains up to 10% ethanol, even our 94 has it so I don't know if ethanol free gas makes any difference.

What I do know lawn mowers and snow blowers run a lot better on 94 than 87 and creates almost no varnish when it sits half the year. That's what I put in them. I put 87 in the work van.

It was sitting for a few months as it was a mid-winter purchase. It had about 3/4 tank of gas in it when I got it. No clue on the octane/type of gas it had in the tank. I first topped it up with some fresh fuel after the first couple drives. Didn't notice much difference immediately after, it still felt noticeably slower than my outgoing LP610-4. I then added the redline after I used up another 1/4 tank and once again topped it up full.

After the next few drives I finally started to notice a difference and the car had the zip and responsiveness I expected. Was likely a result of the combination of the redline and the detergents from the fresh premium gas working their way through the system. I'm considering trying an ethanol blend 94 octane instead of the pure gas 91 octane to see how the car feels with that.
