My guess is a 'luxury minivan' would not sell well here (US) as everyone is so enamored by giant luxury SUV's.

We don't see new minivans anymore. What replaces them are small SUV. I never owned one but I found them cool for the spaciousness where you could store 2 bicycles and luggage inside.

Another disapointment are work vans, my last one was great with AWD and cargo side doors on both sides. They discontinued AWD and the driver side cargo door.
I'm losing business because I can't go to clients house if the roads are too steep and slippery in the winter, many times I had white knuckles when I couldn't make the incline and started to slide backwards towards the trees or ditch. When this one gets too old I'll have to cut the the side doors and cut up the new van and fabricate mounts to put them in.

What work van are you running? Merc, ram, Ford?
Most are fwd now I think unless your getting the chassis cab Fords or merc duallys

Chevy express 2500. There are no Dodge vans here they have such a bad reputation of breakin down. I heard Mercedes took over Dodge vans. Very few buy them.
Duallys need a yearly inspection so they are not popular.
Fords, I went to look at them and when I saw the wimpy frame and suspension and FWD, no thanks.
Chevy express share many same parts as GM Savana so parts are plentiful at the scrap yard, sometimes there are over 10 lined up. New parts are inexpensive and available locally and Amazon.

Yeah I think you are spot on. In the US, cars tend to look more masculine. The Alphard feels like it is made for rich soccer moms, but here it is mostly guys driving it. Soccer moms here usually go for smaller cars that fit the roads better. A giant luxury SUV would have a hard time fitting on the local roads, not to mention parking. Prob one reason US cars don't sell well here, they are just huge!
