Did you start needing reading glasses like I do?

It's a strange realization I see all these young people just starting their adult lives while they started to call me sir. I can see in their eyes when they see the car and we exchange a few words, I see their faces, the aspiration and admiration of achievement while I admire their youth & having a good woman by their side. Then I think I wish the lightbulb inside of me would of turned on way earlier because of being kicked down as an employee.

I have a feeling I'm going to need reading glasses n 1-2 years. I bought a rare signed book recently to pair it with my bow and I could see double letters when I read it 😂

One thing I inherited from my family is that we age like vampires. Our hair stays black forever and only turns grey way later because our ancestors ate too much tofu. Eyes are different because we all wear glasses and have vision of a mole rat LOL. So I still look like some ugly and nerdy school kid. It's hilarious when young guys start bossing me around like I am their intern, barking orders and wagging fingers. I'm just standing there thinking, "Buddy, I’ve got more money and life experience than your entire friend group combined."

It's exactly how it started, sometimes double and having to put a book further than usual to read it.

So I added another watch...not too sure about this one. I like the size and shape and look....but not too sure I can wear this one. Minght be too nice.

Then....I really wanted to just try this watch, it's a Breitling SuperAvenger...it is HUGE. So I got one in decent, wearable condition, but not a complete set (no box, no papers, but it did go through the eBay authenticator process) so much cheaper

Then I thought I'd share a couple fun watches. Both Lotus. The one on the left, I'm working through a band replacement as the original one is hard from age.

That Breitling is a very nice purchase! Caliber 13 cosc cert chrono so you get a very accurate movement like 1-3 secs per day. SS and I agree they are huge! (48 mm). I think @Luzifer would like this too since he has big wrists.

That Lotus watches should have Miyota (quartz) inside but not sure. Very low maintenance and runs like forever. They are good watches if you like the brand.

That Panerai is just...different beast. 47mm with special alloy casing. Pretty expensive too. I think cost 2x of that Breitling.

All of them look very cool, I like them.

It would be awesome if we had Lambo watches!

Like you say many Tonino watches are pretty meh. Some of them look like they belong at a flea market. 😅

However after a quick search this one is interesting. It's sad though it doesn't have a metal bracelet. To me any leather or rubber bracelet looks cheap and doesn't look luxurious. Do you think the gaps between the bracelet pin hinge and case look foolish? When all said and done this one should cost around $1500 CAD with all fees. I would hate to pay that much and once you see for real it I don't like it.

Do you guys think it looks good?

More photos on ebay.

Very cool looking watch. I agree on the rubber leather band vs a metal bracelet however, If I'm daily wearing the watch, I prefer leather or rubber.
I see what you mean on the gap in the corners with that band....not sure I could deal with that. Maybe it looks better on wrist? Looks like a weird afterthought.

Here is my colection. Not that fancy, but they are all special to me. They are all gifts. From left to right.
-Toninio Lamborghini watch. A gift from my wife. She thought it matched my car. Great watch, but it weighs a ton.
-Tissot. This year's gift from my wife to replace another that wore out. Beautiful watch that I wear the mosrt, and love.
-Bulova. Wife gift. I wear black all of the time for work, so this watch goes well. I have had it for 13 years now.
-Swatch. Special place in my heart. My dad bought it for me when he was traveling. He wanted to bring me home a gift like he did when I was a kid. He remembered that I liked Swatch when I was a teenager. I got this one in my late 40s. Not the fanciest watch, but I thought it was incredibly thoughtful and sweet.
-Timex. Given to me by the mother of my late girlfreind 20 years ago. We traveled cross country to visit her family at Thanksgiving. My watch broke on the trip, and I hate not having a watch. A month later at Christmas, this watch arrived for me in the mail. My girlfreind passed 15 years ago. Her mom and I are still very close. This little Timex means a lot to me.

The Tonino looks cool, I like it. Very bold design.

So many nice and memorable watches! Their value goes up when there are stories behind them. Especially when they are meaningful gifts that bring good luck and auspicious feng shui vibes :)

I think it should look good on you. Its bold design goes well with big wrists. The gaps, well, let's just say they are vents for wrist cooling during hot summer :) Besides it's easier to change straps.

My Toninio Lamborghini watch is probably the most relevent to this site. It is really robust. Solid, large and heavy. It strikes me as being really well built. Always does its job. If I was to find a complaint, it would be that the adjustment knob diggs into the back of my hand at times due to the size and weight.

I found this one that looks a lot better, no gaps between the case and bracelet. On closer inpsection the other one has a sewn on orange tab on the bracelet. It feels like it's an "economy" model. This one looks more tailored.

I think that watch is something John Wick would wear. He didn't wear that but he would. Heavy enough to smack opponents with his wrist chop and sturdy enough to block bullets :)

These are mineIMG_6532.jpeg
From left to right.
My late grand father’s gold watch from his navy duties.
Bering: Gift from wife many years ago. Rarely wear this one by no reason at all.
Big Lamborghini: most recent buy. A bit clunky for my small wrists but I do like it and wear it quite often.
Silver Lamborghini. Have had this watch for many years. Sits like a glove on me.
