This is a literal build from hell, I would put the difficulty a 10 out of 10.

I put flock and once it dries, some places didn't stick so either you try to do patches but it shows or wipe it off off but the lacquer thinner will melt the plastic. It'll take anywhere from 3-6 touch ups. On the door cards for exemple since it has two alcantara color I've been on it on and off for 2 weeks. The paint creeps under the masking tape and melts the plastic, I had to sand the plastic and do more touch ups.

I had to redo the flock on steering wheel 4x! I practised a while with different techniques to emulate stitching the perimeter of the screen. I ended up using a toothpick dabbing the paint on an scrap piece 5-6 dots before the correct amount of paint was left on the tooth pick so it could be applied to the model.

Each light switch is painted and each has their individual decal, microscopic decals! They are so small I use jewelers visor which I think is 10x magnification to be able to see what I'm doing. Then a day later you have to apply a varnish on the decals so they don't fall off in a couple years.

There's a whole lot of assembly and disassembly because there's no detailed explanation or you realize you need to paint a component or a component needs to go in first before another. In some instances the like the dash pieces will not line up with the cab so I had to shave parts to fit.

The front end portion is complete, frame, front differential, battery, suspension, painted calipers, rads and hoses and even the front lift with painted air lines(red and green).

I know there are red stains on the frame I need to wipe off, the red paint doesn't want to dry!

Even the battery has accurate warning decals and ground wire attached to the frame (see left screw on the frame)

The rack and pinion which turns the front wheels was atrociously cast, the splines didn't line up properly and the rack was locked in place. It took me a few hours to file each groove of the rack and file the pinion gear with miniature files to get a smooth operation. (Red paint brush pointing to rack and pinion)

More progress, starting to assemble complete sections together...

The front radiator hoses were tough to pull through the frame and gluing the junctions below were impossible because they were not sized properly to fit together. I had to stuff the hoses with extra rubber to be able to have contact with each other so the glue could bind them.

I wasted my time making the rack and pinion work smoothly, the steering shaft joints in this position are so tightly bound that the full operation is mostly for show. The wheels turn but not much because of the steering shaft.

Alcantara (flock) roof liner and pillars, the sun visors actually open and close.

The windows each have their own warning decals like the real thing.

As stated previously nothing is easy on this build, I fooled around so long with the door cards as explained in a prior post. I couldn't get the flock right, the orange background paint would soak into the black flock. Then the orange paint would soak the orange flock and turn it into an unwanted darker orange and matt the fibers. I redid them maybe 6-8 times with trial and error before trying out a different process. The orange flock here has 4 layers! I finally got the correct color and consistency of the fibers. I was happy about the result so I redid the seats too.

Each door contains 30 parts, most parts are painted. A combination 9 different paints! The speaker grills among other grills on the car are photo etched metal.

The mirror can fold in and out like the real thing and the door handles also open and close.

I'm wondering if should I assemble the engine trim like in the instructions,(mesh grill not shown) or somehow try to do custom trim pieces like I have on my actual 610-4 car? I didn't think it over but it would be a big undertaking to make custom panels and cut out the cast metal.

New Huracan mesh engine cover: doubling as a traditional seafood grill. Just park, pop the hatch, and voila, dinner is served :)

I think I know now, it must be a European car because the side markers on the model are silver.

Good eye on the side markers. I'd say to just use them as they are. It would be a lot of work making new covers. You can make the model using 3d printer, but still a lot of work! :)

I have a problem, turns out the paint of the hood doesn't match the rest of the body, it's a whole lot lighter. The whole body I used the same can of base coat except I had to redo the hood multiple times because or paint imperfections. I think I'll have to redo the hood again! I need to have another can of base coat made and I might as well shave the sides of the casting because the gap between the hood and fenders are too tight and it's paint on paint. Even if I respray there's very little chance the paint color will match up better.

I have had the paint shop make me a can of base coat and used it on a back side piece that just needs a bit of orange but to my astonishment this batch is even lighter than the previous cans! If I redo the hood it's going to be even worse than it is now. I have to think what I'm going to do next.

This evening I finished the frunk storage space with the 12 Volt plug and lamp. I mixed some green and yellow to get a close match to the emergency pull handle, I also painted the emergency back plate black as the sprue was gray. As detailed as the model is they didn't make the tool bags, bummer.

This is the first time I needed an airbrush and surely the last. I set up the airbrush I had ordered online with a seperate pressure regulator, I set it up so I could quick connect it to the compressor on rare occasions if I ever need it. I didn't want to buy a complete compressor set as I only need this once.

Problem was I needed black chrome for the exhaust tips, the tips in the kit were chrome. I had an idea at the hobby store when I noticed "smoke" colored paint. Well turns out it did better than expected! Not as black as the real thing but close enough, I know I won't get better results.

The wheels were not the same color and it was easily changed, I'm happy it's the same pattern (Mimas).

Such a difficult build! One step forward then 2 steps back to redo things, for example the instruction detail assembly too early and you have to break the bonds of the glue on the next step to fit another part.

My heart sank when I was looking forward to painting the wheels and I had done a perfect black paint job. I waited too long to put clear coat and when I did the paint started to wrinkle a few moment later! I debated trying to find a complete diecast kit or sand the wheels down. I decided hours of my time was more reasonable however it took over a month of toiling tediously with eyeglasses and jeweler's visor sanding all crevices. It took me over 13 hours to sand out the wrinkles!

Still a work in progress but I have used all the pieces in the spruces. One piece is missing though, the windshield washer cap, I will shape one down as best I can.

These rotors were silver from the spruce as seen on the tab. A variety of 6 paint colors to come close as I could to the real thing.

Detailing the gas cap was also a pain in the butt, well everything is. I had to reshape the hinge it didn't want to open at first.

1748142347560.jpeg

The deck lid painted in green was very rough, I had to sand, paint, sand again 2 more times to get a decent gloss black finish without too many pimples. Next I had to create grooves like the real lid has to transition to the bottom part as the real thing has a satin finish.

1748141683234.jpeg

A good thing I have the car back in the garage as I was able to grab details like the frunk latch to know which part is plastic or aluminum so I could detail the model latch accordingly. Same thing for the gas cap, rear deck lid and details inside the cab. For the interior I had to remove the windshield that I had previously installed and with a long brush adding a few more details I had missed.

A few more pictures. I started to paint the undercarriage screws where they will be seen like the rockers and somes screws in the frame.

Now that you are almost done... this is the next project?
I've seen it many times in what seems individual packets, I don't know if they sell it as a complete kit?

I'm still unsure if I want it, the shell is not really nice. If I ever buy one I wouldn't put gas in it as it would sit inside the house.

I'll try to find out the price for a complete kit.
